I could tell
you I've wanted to be an artist since I did my first pre-school finger
painting. Or that the desire to draw or paint or sculpt hounded my
youth, even when I was getting a master's degree in education (the
practical thing to do, I was told at the time). I could even say
that, after years of meandering through the world of work teaching
pre-school, writing curriculum materials, working in criminal and
corporate law offices (even going to law school for awhile), and serving
in various capacities at a large university, I finally realized
that art had been my one and only love all along!
As life would
have it, not exactly true. The form of expression that kept me awake
nights had always been writing--a passion, but also a useful, reliable
skill. It was only at mid-life, when what seems secure gets shaky, that I
began a flirtation with the visual arts (some people buy little red sports
cars, I went to art school). Feeling out of place among mostly younger
students, I stuck my toe in uncharted waters, testing the feel of art
history, drawing, watercolor, ceramics, sculpture and painting. And
one day I just lost my footing, and fell in.
I hope you
like the art I make and find inspiration and pleasure in it. And, of
course, I hope you'll buy it.
I live in
Boulder, Colorado, where my work includes writing, art and volunteer work
with animals. I regularly donate profits to a wide variety of
charities that serve animals, the environment and people.
